Re: Is it time for another collection thread?

The Tony had stickers. Thick stickers like you would see on a Wal-mart G.I. Joe toy. Shockingly bad quality from top to bottom. There is no way that the same person produced the p51b which I had ordered very early in Skyworks existence and the TonyI ordered near its demise

Re: Is it time for another collection thread?

The lower quality of the Tony compared to the P51B was shocking. Stickers rather than decals???!!!! Shoddy paint. That's one of the reasons I did not think they were done by the same person.

Re: Is it time for another collection thread?

Jnewboy: Yeah, that's a 1/6 88mm from a few years ago. Just couldn't really get into 1/6 scale. There are 3 of Jack's father's customs. The last was the Japanese custom and there was such a huge drop in quality from the P51B's quality which was early in Skyworks history to the Japanese custom which ...

Re: 1/18 Huey B from JSI exclusive for Merit International

Now that a "new" Huey is going to be produced, the fire sale on the old Hueys should be starting soon. I remember when JSI put out their P-38's. The old P-38's which were being listed for $200-400 on ebay suddenly dropped to $100 and ebay was absolutely flooded with them-people trying to unload them...

Re: What Might Have Been Or What Could Be....

Not to get the Jack at Skyworks thing going but I just want to state an opinion which I had not heard voiced previously. I do not think that Jack was EVER the one doing these custom models. I am very sure it was his father and Jack was simply taking credit for it. Do you think that it a coincidence ...

Re: Is it time for another collection thread?

I think you will see multiple scales a lot. As 1/18 dried up a lot of people had to go elsewhere. I briefly branched into 1/6 but it really wasn't my thing. Now i build and scratch build 1/35. There is just so much variety it keeps me occupied. I miss the heydays of 1/18 though

Re: 1/18 SIDEWINDER IS HERE!!!!!!!!

Yes, it is indeed a mg42. The bren is an actual 1941 bren which has been deactivated. I always wonder what that bren has seen. Right after all the equipment losses after Dunkirk I imagine it was in very high demand! The floor where the planes sit is off limits to anyone especially my ten year old wh...

Re: 1/18 SIDEWINDER IS HERE!!!!!!!!

The Dora is 1/35 scale. Since 1/18 pretty well dried up, I got into 1/35 scale and started this 1/35 Dora dio. I've been working on it for proabably 4 years now. There is a "work in progress" that I posted as I have come along on the diorama but it is on a 1/35 scale forum. I don't know if the moder...

Used to be a daycare next door to my office. It went out of business and bought the building. Half of the building was made for storage and the rest was "mancave"

Re: Very limited time! 1/18 Boeing 737 for $85 off

How does the surface compare to 21st century and BBI? I bought a high quality foam flyer (a French Raphael) and was disappointed. I expected the surface to be pretty flat but the bumpy foam surface was obvious unless you stood at least 20 feet away. If you are up fairly close do they have a smooth s...

$300???? IF this is going to be in resin it will ABSOLUTELY be $1,000.00 plus. No question whatsoever. With a Tony running over $700.00, raise your hand if you think the A-10 will cost less than the Tony when the A-10 will probably take 3 times the amount of resin, detailing, etc. Nobody is really t...

got mine preordered already. I agree that I hope this all leads to a B-25. The possibilities would be endless with it. A squadron of B-25's hanging from the ceiling with their P-51 escorts or a gun nose version swooping down on a hapless japanese transport -what a sight.

I am a big 1/18 collector but I refuse to spend money on poor quality items. I bet ANYTHING the quality of this zero is nowhere near the quality of the BBI zero-none of 21st's stuff was as good a quality as BBI's. The only one that came close was the later P-51's. The BBI Corsair and 109 were FAR be...

How important is box art to you??

With Allgo toys getting off the ground and likely starting with some limited funds I am curious how imporatnt box art is to 1/18 collectors. I couldn't care less about the boxes but perhaps I am unusual in that respect. Should Allgo spend the money on fancy box art or just pack them in cardboard box...

Additionally, I hope they don't waste a bunch of money on boxes. I couldn't care less about them. Just save the money and send them in plane cardboard boxes and that would be just fine with me. Maybe I am alone in that respect. How important are box art to 1/18 collectors?

I am thrilled! I have always been a BIG 21st fan. I love the chances their management took on big planes like the P-38 and Avenger. Those guys have got giant cahones and if anyone will produce the B-25 and F-4 it will be the guys at Allgo. I am DEFINITELY in for the new P-51. These planes were never...

I would buy a repaint. Sure it would be great to have a completely new model but I think that would be completely impossible for 21st to do right out of the gates. I think it is awesome that 21st may be coming back-they were real risk takers. It took real big cahoonas to put out huge models ike the ...
