Re: An answer from JSI.

I finally received an answer from Tony at Merit Int'l regarding the JSI 1/18 F-14 A kit. So here it is for all you non-believers. Hi Rudy Thank you for your email inquiry about the 1/18 F14A kit. Yes, a kit version will be released around June/July. Right now we are determining how much parts need ...

Actually, the Indy Bikes didn't do all that bad... You'd be surprised how many actually sold. The REST of the deluxe stuff plugged the line, but German bikes were tough to find for a while. Hasbro got more out, but they didn't do too bad, according to what I've been told anyway. In a line that had ...

I stay with 1:18 scale because it is a scale I like, coming from a GI JOE 3 3/4" collecting background (figures were roughly 1:18 scale, vehicles were not of course). I stay with 1:18 scale, with the exception of buying the Sideshow 12" GI JOE figures. Staying with one scale is a good way for me to ...

BTW, a few people here gave me crap for saying that the Monkey Depot sale was a dumping of of 21st Century's AZ warehouse, but about three weeks ago I was able to confirm once and for all that this was in fact what happened, so I guess I'm not so dumb after all, eh? :)

It still doesn't make sense with a worldwide recession and people not buying things... to raise the prices? What you may be in fact saying is: "It isn't economically feasible to produce this product at US$45 in this economy for the U.S. market." For example, if these aircraft had to be manufactured...

Does anyone make a modern 1:18 fire truck? Lanard made one, although they are not currently producing it. It was rather strange looking, not like anything I've seen in the U.S., possibly it was modeled after something European? I have seen others in stores that look approx. 1:18 scale, more traditi...

Always a great idea, should be a winner. Facts are. Won't sell. Waste of time and money. Way too many Chinese juck factories doing the same thing. Yeah, possible issue, plus this idea is not exactly new - both BBI and InToyz produced the SWAT figures already. I wouldn't exactly call this innovative...

Re: F-14

Also gotta think the spot debacle is going to hurt pre-orders. More people will be inlcined to see the actual production model before ordering. True, and it will not only hurt pre-orders between consumer and retailer, it has hurt pre-orders between retailer and manufacturer/distributor. This kind o...

Re: JSI F-14 in kit form?

Corey, Would you mind explaining more about this? I'm just curious about the state of affairs between JSI/Merit/retailers. I don't have any specific inside information, but my point is that: 1) The consumer wasn't thrilled with the paint scheme on this model, which is pretty obviously a production ...

Re: JSI F-14 in kit form?

I have not heard anything back from JSI as of yet. I sent an email to Merit Int'l to see if they had any word on the kit. Still keeping my fingers crossed. If JSI does release a kit (or any other non-kit scheme) it will be far into the future and/or possibly be some sort of exclusive in a foreign c...

I'm not sure how Corey came up with the price point for the PW or the release date. Maybe he has some sort of inside info the rest of us aren't privy to or is perhaps simply speculating. We have a wholesale price for the bird, as well as a suggested retail price (which is quite a bit higher than ou...

The pre-orders will be popping up soon, but when you see the price for these I imagine the cheering will come to a screeching halt - they are not cheap, gone are the days of Wally World mass production run pricing. This will be a limited production run and thus a very expensive model.

Thats the best idea. My F-14 spends most of its time sitting on its gear on my display table. The plane really is too big and awkward to lug around, though I've picked it up and set it down (on its gears) at various places in my house including the bed, the ottoman in the family room, the workbench...

Oh yes, you hated those cheap boxes, but also would have been the first to complain had they packed them in nicer boxes but correspondingly raised the retail price!

Maybe this news will kick BBI in its fourth point of contact to start making some new stuff. Competition is a good thing :D Which I wager BBI's sitting around thinking just like me... I'll chime in as a U.S.-based retailer who ships a lot of packages abroad. All of your observations are correct in my experience. Interesting, same seller selling tomcats for $199 with free shipping As you may know (or not) distributor Merit had put some retail price requirements on the F-14. To get around this, Bad Cat is apparently selling them surreptitiously on eBay. :) They cannot be blamed I guess, seeing as how Merit a...
