"all the models and pictures i've seen of this tank shows it in winter camo. was it only used during the battle of the bulge or something?" No the M4A3 with 105mm howitzer came into the European Theater in the fall of 1944 (the M4 with 105 came in just after DDay). Re: the snow camo - that's actuall...

My personal passion is for the US Army in WW2, in multiple scales. Not much use for the Nazi crud, except to show GI's passing a KO'd Panther or something. 1/32nd 21C and FoV are mixed in with 1/32 models from Monogram, Airfix, etc. Figures are from 21C, Marx, Airfix, etc.as well as a few metal mina...

Shermans in North Africa...
You're in luck - Concord just released Steve Zaloga's newest book, "US Tank Battles in North Africa and Italy". For about 15-18 bucks it has a lot of good stuff. Zaloga is a good writer and researcher. Otherwise the old book "Armour Camouflage and Markings in North Africa" by George Bradford is stil...

a couple comments...
1) re: "can this be converted to a 76mm tank?" - answer yes, with a new turret and gun. The M4A3 with 76mm gun was a common gun tank in many units from the fall of 1944 on in both Europe and later in Italy. Once upon a time someone made a 1:18 T23 turret for the 21C Sherman (which was totally incorr...

Pole's tank...
Lafayette Poole's most notable tank was an M4A1 with 76mm gun named "In The Mood" (from Company "I"). I think he went through several (as did many tank aces). Another consideration is Creighton Abrams who was not only a VERY capable commander but noted as making a number of kills from his tanks (all...

thanks for the info...
I didn't know that they were going to do this in 1/72nd. Both Trumpeter and Italeri are doing them in 1/35th. Airfix had an old one in 1/76th that comes with an early M4. Fonderei (spelling?) out of France has a pricey LCM and LCVP in 1/72nd. The Dragon offering looks like a reduced size Italeri off...

my opinions...
Yes, it's great to have a Pershing in 1:32 at long last! I like the overall "feel" and level of detail (hey, if I want "perfect" I'll build one of the Tamiya ones on my shelf!). I think the boys at Unimax got a little carried away with the wear and tear. Most of these tanks were pretty low-mileage. ...

more money yes, but more model!
I finally picked up my new FoV Pershing. Yes it costs more than the Sherman, but I got much more model, and I'm not just referring to the size of the beast. This model is clearly taken from the 1/35th model by Tamiya. I has stuff like the "kick guards" over the periscopes and some other little detai...

the two best refrences that I have state that about 310 T26E3 made it to the ETO before the end of the war, and about 200 of those were actually in the hands of the troops. Most of these vehicles were too late to see combat. The first 20 were the most notable, these were from the first 40 off the pr...
