Re: RC Plane Talk

That is very nice indeed. You did a great job ! Thanks! Just finished getting it hung up yesterday. Here’s a few photo of it with the 21st Century Tuskegee Airmen P-51. https://i.ibb.co/yRDbwn5/IMG-3490.jpg https://i.ibb.co/QkjqB4M/IMG-3491.jpg https://i.ibb.co/Zdyxt9N/IMG-3492.jpg https://i.ibb.co...

Re: RC Plane Talk

B-29, so you’re that guy all over the 1/18 groups on Facebook with the B-17  You have done some amazing work on your RC B-17 conversion project and your model is stunning :D Yeah, I’m that guy. Thanks for the kind words. Now all I need is for it to survive the cross country drive tomorrow wit...

Thanks guys! I’m pretty happy with how it’s turned out. Soon to be hung in formation with a Tuskegee P-51.

Re: RC Plane Talk

Finally finished a project I’ve been working on for the last few months, an extensively modified RC B-17 converted to a static model with lots of added detail. Engines, turbosuperchargers, gear, guns, cowlings, interior parts and props all had to be completely redone and through a combination of scr...

Re: Are Mods The Thing of the Past ?

Depends. I’d say mods are over for certain high value items, and new opportunities are open for the others (like the Huey and F-86) that are still available in kit form.

A Vietnam era Cobra would be a must have for me, and it would be great to see the P-39 brought to completion.

Re: WTF happened to the price of Star Wars figures?

It’s certainly gotten a bit ridiculous. At that price, I’m buying the 6” figures anyway instead. On an adjacent note, just helped my brother put together his “work from home” office for his job at ILM. Was great to dust off years of Star Wars toys that have been in storage since we were kids. https:...

Re: Elite Force Naval Gunboat

Thanks guys! The RCs are tons of fun. Pretty much completely switched over to them after around 2013. Still try to get models that end up around that size range when I get the chance though. I did actually consider using a 21C fuselage, but they are heavy, and were hard to find at the time. No video...

Re: RC Plane Talk

wow, spectacular. The 747 dwarfs the 7 foot span B-2. Awesome. Where do you store all those huge models? Very creatively.. https://i.ibb.co/7S6c8bb/D2-BA398-B-01-BD-4-D21-ABD7-C5-D3-FC8-A5-A15.jpg I have also built a few racks of PVC and aluminum for my RCs to store as much as I can verti...

Re: Elite Force Naval Gunboat

The ProBoats R/C Alpha Patrol Boat is 1/18 scale and a great representation of the Vietnam era PBR which often ferried the Navy Seals. I have one on display in my hobby room which always draws peoples attention. Definitely! It’s an excellent model and a lot of fun as well. Had fun flying my roughly...

Re: Has anyone purchased from Banggood?

well, my experience has been less good. I ordered an item in early June. After I purchased I discovered that the item was a pre order., no indication of this when I ordered. I was given a series of expected shipping dates, all of which passed with no shipment. This week I got a notice from them say...

Re: RC Plane Talk

I’ve been flying the B-2 for the last few months, and it’s a really nice model. Did a few scale mods such as relocation of the nose wheel, and it flies fantastic. As if that wasn’t large enough, I also acquired the huge HSD Boeing 747. It’s the same scale as the B-2 (~1/24), but it’s huge. 10 ft lon...

Re: 1/18 Scratchbuilt H-13E/Bell 47D

I don't suppose that you would have any time coming up, that you might be able to run a kit or two, would you? LOL (I am sure others would like one as well!) Honestly, not likely. Everything is at my parents house in MN, and I’ve since moved to TX. I might toy with making another in the future as a...

I understand that. Time and Money are almost always in the way to starting a project and then finding the time and money to finish it up. If you don't mind my asking, the flying P-39 that you have, is it 1/8 by any chance? If it is who is the manufacturer and where would we be able to get one? It i...

Hi B-29, I just went through this thread and the thread of your original posting of the P-39. It looks like you were pretty close to completing this Project. Is this a Project that you are planing to complete soon? I would be very interested in buying one, if you plan on offering up a kit. Thank yo...

Thanks guys! I echo the words in previous posts on this thread. I can appreciate the time and effort that it took for you to plan, start and finish such a beautiful scale model of the H-13. I applaud your going through school to become an Engineer and one at Bell to boot! Congratulations on the Mode...

Re: 1/18 Scratchbuilt H-13E/Bell 47D

Thought I’d put a bookend on this a few years later.. After years of college, the model now sits on my desk at Bell Helicopter, next to a 1/18 Kiowa. Would have never imagined when I built the model that I would end up as an engineer at Bell!

I could have sworn a good 3-5 years back now there was someone in the 1:18 scale forum making a P-39 Aircobra? I might have mixed up another plane someone made. If anyone knows if this was made, and who made it, please chime in. Thanks! I started one many years ago, but never finished. It’s still s...

Re: RC Plane Talk

Unfortunately, that luck is pretty par for the course with this model. It looks great, and flies fantastic, but the reason it was discontinued was because of terrible quality control from the factory. Here is all the info on the prop, modifications, and power system. The last link also includes a fl...

Re: RC Plane Talk

No problem Studly! As for the 5 blade, double check the color of the prop hub assembly. The earlier hubs (black) were fairly strong, but the later white hub versions have some serious strength issues. I would be wary of using if it is the white one for sure. My stock motor was dead from the factory,...

Re: RC Plane Talk

Here is the tail retract that I used: http://www.rc-castle.com/index.php?rout ... ct_id=1858. Only thing that I did was cut off the tail wheel slight above the steering arms and glue it on facing the other way. That way it retracts forwards like the real airplane.

Re: RC Plane Talk

Nice! Congrats on a fantastic flying model! I have that same Sea Fury and it is one of my favorites. I modified mine with a scale diameter prop and retractable tailwheel. Be sure to give the gear mounts a good shakedown before flying. They were very poorly glued from the factory, and came off on the...
