Here is the Leo 2a6 I am currently building after a +5yr pause in the hobby. The switch to 2.4Ghz is great!

Re: 1/16 tanks
I received my ZTZ-99 yesterday and have started the breaking in process. Pretty good runner after a bath in wd-40 and an hour of run time to grind the gears and loosen the tracks. Definitely needs 400 motors.

Re: 1/16 tanks
So I was a tad drunk Sunday night and decided to snoop around the 1:16 shops for the first time this year. I stumbled upon the HL ZTZ-99 and purchased it blindly with my paypal balance. I've since been cruising the usual boards, but am unable to find much about this model. Anyone know it's flaws? Is...

Jealous of your T-34 TD. I was very close to buying one prewired from phil since I suck at soldering and am still procrastinating rewiring my Leo 2.

Re: 1/16 tanks
Jesse, don't even get me started on the beauty of metal treads, suspension and detail parts. It's way too easy to drop a few hundred dollars on aftermarket parts for these badboys.
I can't wait until the KT hits the US market. It's been almost 2yrs since my last tank.

Re: 1/16 tanks
The new Panther and Jagdpanther had nothing molded on, even the grab handles came on a sprue. The detail goes up with every release and is matching if not trumping 21C (I consider individually linked treads and functioning suspension an important detail).

Re: 1/16 tanks
I'd love to get that 96, but the one I'm after is the Leopard A2, Tamaya has one for like a grand but Hobby Engine has one for less thna 200 bucks, I guess I know which one to get. The Hobby Engine takes several hundred to get it up to par if you plan on running it. It's 1 stick assigned to each tr...

Re: 1/16 tanks
Nope, never got around to it. I really need a new mounting plate for my gearboxes because the mato ones were crooked and screwed everything up. I just chewed up a set of asiatams, so it's gonna be static for awhile.

Oops... Didn't notice. I personally hate Tankzone, but Welsh Dragon seems to have stopped carrying them.
Asiatam might have them: http://www.asiatam.com/index.php
You could always ask Phil to order you one: http://rctankwars.com/Products.asp

His name is "Hawk" and he should be at a Walmart or Target near you in the next week or two. His wave has been popping up this week around the country. I ordered mine from BBTS: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS19912&mode=retail http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/images/products...

Re: Anybody getting FOV's 2011 1/16 Tiger 1?
Absolutely not. Pretty model, but I also have a 1/16 HL R/C Tiger, repainted with aftermarket parts at a fraction of this cost, that looks wonderful (tooting my own horn). $250 price tag to $600???....exactly....WTF????? Exactly. $500 of aftermarket aluminum on a Henglong will beat out a static mod...

Re: 1/16 tanks
I think the KV's problem is how ugly most people find it and it is a bit obscure. I like the looks of mine, but put several $100's into it and it runs like it's real life counterpart. Slow and underpowered. I never drove it without the Asiatam hull because they were shipped together and the KV's pla...

Re: 1/16 tanks
Speaking of Hobby Engine, I have the Leo 2A5 that I couldn't complete the conversion on and would be willing to sell. It has steel gears (not pot metal), Tamiya tracks, Speed 400 motors, metal tamiya sprockets and the custom sprocket adaptors. It needs electronics of your choosing, a gearbox mount a...
