Some of you might remember some of my fathers work from a while back. He went by macvsog on the board. I think it applies to this discussion as he used foam core and title grout, then painted it in washes. I uploaded some of his old photos for you. <a href="http://s497.photobucket.com/albums/rr332/a...

Well, it's likely that 21st had to take a loan to create the platoon line or if not a loan at least justify it to a number of key financial figures. Part of this would be the idea of bankability. While the movies you listed would have been great to have figures from, they don't make good impressions...

I totally see eye to eye on you with that one. Totally. I don't look forward to a dry spell in 1:18 and most other scales, but I think we might see it come anyway. I loved the glory days of XD and I think they will return, but they might be dry for a while. I wish it don't have to happen that way, b...

The first successful war film from the release of Platoon to the release of Saving Private Ryan was: 0. (I'm a commercial filmmaker). And I never meant to imply a "blood and guts" fix or anything like that. That would be strange. I personally (as I think everyone on this board feels) will never get ...

I think there is another aspect to what is going on here: For a decade we have been in a state of extreme reality and detail in our media (as compared to the past at least) and our lives around us. Just think of the detail and comparative realism involved in films like Saving Private Ryan, Band of B...

I really love the SASR work you've done here. I think that the camo and gear... Everything you've done there is great. I would like to even see a little light weathering applied to them. Some light black or brown wash, just a little or something like that, could really make that camo paint look perf...

Wow, thanks so much! Yes, I'm sure it's not all of them, but better than the nothing I've found everywhere so far. I'll have to look into a few books on this.

Thanks so much for your effort.

That is not entirely unexpected, but interesting all the same. I'm sure there was no way for the pilot to know who it was. But I also think that at the time he probably still would have opened fire, only in looking back does he probably say he would have let him go. But, we'll never know. Exupery ha...

Well, as some of you old timers on this board may remember my father used to be on this board often and went by the name macvsog. He has since retired and such, but as many of you remember he is a multi-tour veteran of Vietnam with the 101st and macv. I've been lucky enough to be left with much of h...

Are those figures painted in the same way most all of the new figures are? Or do they have the paint style of the original Paras? The original Paras have always been superior to me because of the way they were painted. They didn't feel heavy with paint - Almost as if the plastic was just dyed (In fa...

Yeah, I found basically the same. It makes me wonder if most of this has somehow been lost. I doubt this and it is probably is written form and not all in one place. I hope that I can get something to turn up. Perhaps if there is some language used to talk about this that I don't know about other th...

G Symbols?

Does anyone have a resource with a complete or extensive listing of G Symbols? A website would be great. G Symbols - Otherwise known as: The Geometric Symbols System instituted by the USN for the Aircraft of the Pacific fleet during WWII. You've seen one of these symbols on one of the 21st Avengers ...
