<snip> If one is less fussy about scale and just wants a big model than there was also, C-130 Hercules, F9F Panther, B-52, Valkyrie, B-2, SR-71, a beautiful B-17 and probably others that i'm forgetting. For me, going forward r/c's are going to be a huge part of this hobby. <snip> Large scale B17 an...

I too was in a coma when 21C gave up. I just figured that it was the same old same old supply issues we always had at Wallyworld with 21C when they slowly thinned out. I wonder now if the "lead paint scare" had anything to do with whacking 21C at the knees? And here I had been hoping for the day we ...

Would have to agree on the angst factor of a vac-form kit, could be worse; paper kit or balsa stick and skin.
Until Revell of Germany did their 1/32nd JU88A, Combatmodels was the only large scale source for the JU88.

Maybe someday we'll see a 1/32nd injected B17 too.

FWIW, picked up a "BigBird" 1/144th B-17F Memphis Belle and a 1/150th Model Power Postage Stamp B-17G. Both are sharp and worthy of display. The BigBirds can be found on evilbay and elswhere on the 'net, the Postage Stamps in Hobby Lobbys, Hobbytowns, etc Edit: On closer inspection, the Model Power ...

Model thief alert - Mike Kalb of Missisauga, ONT ???

Many of us XD fans also dabble in plastic models. In the past month, a theiving rat going by the name of Mike Kalb has surfaced on many modeling boards doing his one-sided trades - ripping MANY MANY people off for kits. Have no idea if Mike Kalb is into XD or diecast, but he has left a sad trail of ...

The 21C 1/32nd kits....

All I can say about these 1/32nd A/C kits is that they are getting a lot of great press on the scale modeling boards from folks who spend $50.00+ on A/C kits - great value for what you get. Almost, but not quite yet, makes me want to build an airplane model. Now if they make a 1/32nd JU88A4, or B25...

It is Series 3 as far as I know. Series 2 was the original COED plastic you could order through the fan club. The markings are spot on if I remember correctly. Yep, that was S-3. It is an army Pacific paint scheme while COED is Marine..... -Ski Thanks all for the replies and pics of the 21C Sherman...

For XD18 vets; which 21C Sherman do I have?

Question for those who have been around XD18 for awhile... I missed out on all of the all-plastic Series 1 XD18 armor years ago, when XD18 was readily available in TRU stores. I later discovered the 21C Ultimate Soldier Fan Club, and in 2002 I ordered my 1st XD18 tank via the Club - the Army OD Sher...

Re: Looks like Google Ckout acknowledged the $10.00 discount

Got an e-mail from Google Ckout indicating they took off the $10.00, and it specifically states that this discount may not appear in company emails. Given that Google Ckout "front ended" the TRU transaction, TRU would not know of this discount and so TRU showed the full amount of bill in their e-ma...

The WTM Shermans are very nice. I have 3 of the WTM Shermans and they are now selling for $8.00-$10.00, so the $5.00 Shermans are worthwhile, esp. since, at this time, Dragon doesn't make a Sherman in 1/144. The Shermans that I have are from the WTM 08 series. That series has a winter camo, a green...

As Digger said...

The loaders hatch on the roof of the BBI Sherman helps. Will need to "square it off" around the hatch, as AFAIK, Fireflies had square loaders hatches. OTOH, the oval hatch and the larger fume vent in the certer of the turret roof can probably just be "lived with". Or, as was mentioned; the 21C turre...

And while we're on the subject of Shermans

I'll go back in broken record mode... 21C has already done the heavy lifting with the lower hull work of their Sherman. They could easily create new upper hulls and turrets and do the complete Sherman-hulled family; M10 M36 M7 M32 ARV M4A1 M4A3 Early M4A3 Wet Stowage M4A2 USMC M4A2 Allies M4A1/76mm ...

I guess I'm the odd man out on this. I like the 21st C one better, because the lines to the toy don't show up as much as they do on the bbi one. Plus the road wheels/sprocket on the 21st C look more like the real thing IMO. Again though like everyone else has said that they are both have good and b...

No, I'd care!

Would be nice to see correct spare track hangers for the Tiger I, and maybe resin zimm sheets to cover the turret and hull. Maybe tow cables as well. Zimm and cables for the Panther as well.
